Author Şenay Eroğlu Aksoy has announced that she is stepping down from her role as a jury member for the Antalya Literature Days Short Story Awards, organized by the Muratpaşa Municipality.
Aksoy's decision came after CHP's Antalya Muratpaşa Mayor Ümit Uysal visited Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and issued a statement of support.
"I am short story writer Şenay Eroğlu Aksoy. Following Ümit Uysal's support for Kılıçdaroğlu, I am resigning from my position as a jury member for the Antalya Literature Days Short Story Awards, organized by the Muratpaşa Municipality."
Uysal had visited Kılıçdaroğlu following the court's "absolute nullity" ruling and made the following statement emphasizing party unity after the meeting:
"We visited the Chairman of our Republican People's Party, Mr. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. We agreed that not a single one of our friends should break away from the CHP, and that the struggle for power must be continued in unity and solidarity, preserving party integrity under the unifying and embracing line of our Republican People's Party's legal entity."
Aksoy's withdrawal from the jury has emerged as a new reflection of the political tension between the municipality's cultural and artistic events and the controversial process within the CHP.
