The Labour Party (EMEP) held its 10th Congress at the Kocatepe Cultural Center under the slogan, "Barbarism will be defeated, the working class will win, the peoples will win."

THE NEW CHAIRMAN HAS BEEN DETERMINED

At the party's 10th Congress, Seyit Aslan, a former member of the DİSK Executive Board and Chairman of Gıda-İş, became the new Chairman. The following names were included in the General Administrative Board (GYK) list: "Abdullah Levent Tüzel, Adile Doğan, Arzu Erkan, Çağlar Kazak, Elif Turgut, Ender Şiar Argın, Eren Öner, Erkan Sarıoğlu, Gürsoy Turan, Halil İmrek, Hüseyin Deniz Ortakçı, İhsan Çaralan, İskender Bayhan, İsmet Dursun, Nedim Köroğlu, Nuray Sancar, Orhan Kurul, Sedat Başkavak, Selma Gürkan, Sema Barbaros, Sevda Karaca, Sinancem Alikoç, Şengül Karadağ, Tuncay Sağıroğlu, Veli Doğan, Yakup Aslandoğan."

"A PERIOD OF INTENSIFYING EXPLOITATION"

According to the Mezopotamya Agency, Aslan stated in his speech at the congress: "We are in a period where contradictions between imperialists are deepening and conditions of exploitation are becoming more severe. The planned attacks of the one-man regime are increasing, targeting all segments of society, primarily the working class. The Medium-Term Program (OVP), the 12th Development Plan, and the 2024 budget continue as part of the attacks against workers and laborers. The one-man regime, which became president again through pressure and fraud in the elections, continues to reinforce its reactionary policies. The local elections must be a process from which our party emerges victorious in the struggle for democracy."

CALL TO STRUGGLE

Expressing that they will act with responsibility to organize the working class and stand against capital with all their might, Aslan said, "We call on all workers and laborers to join the ranks of our party and fight together against capital and its government, the one-man regime, and against imperialist aggression. We call on our intellectuals, writers, scientists, theater artists, media workers, and all laborers to unite around the working class and establish the power of the working class."
