DEM Party Group Deputy Chair Sezai Temelli made statements regarding the alleged call to be made by PKK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan during a press conference he held at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.
'THE CALL WILL BE HISTORIC'
Touching upon the İmralı process initiated by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, Temelli stated that the date of the call to be made by Öcalan has not yet been clarified, saying, "We are waiting for the call. We anticipate that such a statement will be made as soon as possible. The date has not been clarified, but as soon as it is announced, we will all be informed of its content together."
Claiming that Öcalan's call will be "historic in nature," Temelli said, "The struggle that Mr. Öcalan has been waging for years is about the resolution of the Kurdish issue on a democratic and political basis. This call will also be an important part of this process."
'IT IS THE GOVERNMENT THAT WILL DECIDE'
In the continuation of his statement, Temelli said the following:
"Therefore, it will be a historic statement regarding the democratic resolution and political basis of this multi-dimensional, comprehensive Kurdish issue. Therefore, everyone has the same idea and expectations that its content will be in this direction.
Our expectation is for him to make a statement in an environment where the isolation on Öcalan is lifted and he attains political freedoms. Of course, this is our expectation. But the authority that will decide what form this will take is, of course, the government. Therefore, I think the government will make the statement regarding this themselves. No date has been announced yet. We are waiting."
