Great Unity Party (BBP) Chairman Mustafa Destici has strongly opposed terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan’s call for the PKK to lay down its arms. Stating that the announcement is unacceptable both in terms of its content and the potential consequences it may create, Destici said, "This process could leave Turkey facing major threats."

''WE WILL NOT CONSENT TO THE PARDONING OF TERROR CRIMES''

Emphasizing that the PKK continues to be the greatest threat to Turkey, Destici stated, "We never trust the ringleader of the terrorist organization, its members, or the structures that support them." Pointing out in his statement that there is no “Kurdish issue” in Turkey, the BBP leader said, “Our citizens of Kurdish origin are an inseparable part of this country with equal rights.”

Stating that the fight against terrorism must continue with determination, Destici said, “We will in no way consent to the pardoning of crimes committed in the past or to the fragmentation of the country on an ethnic or regional basis through constitutional changes.”

''THERE IS NO NEGOTIATING WITH TERROR''

Stating that despite Öcalan’s call, members of the terrorist organization will continue their existence under different names, Destici emphasized that no concessions will be made in the fight against terrorism, saying, "Yesterday we saw once again that there is no negotiating with terror or terrorists. It is eradicated by fighting it in its entirety."
