Shock postponement in 'absolute nullity' case: Dispute grows between ruling partners

Former AKP deputy Şamil Tayyar announced that the appellate review of the case known in the public eye as the 'absolute nullity' case has been unexpectedly postponed.

Tayyar stated that a decision is no longer expected within the month of May and shared noteworthy information regarding the ongoing disputes within the AKP and MHP.

APPELLATE DECISION WILL NOT BE ISSUED IN MAY

In a statement made via social media, Tayyar noted that the files were retrieved from local courts in Istanbul and Ankara and that the appellate court is evaluating all evidence. Although there was an initial expectation that a decision would be issued in May, Tayyar stated, “It has been postponed unexpectedly. There is no possibility of a decision in May. The debates surrounding this case will continue for at least another month.”

CHP’S 38TH ORDINARY CONGRESS CANCELLATION LAWSUIT

Tayyar’s statements also cover developments regarding the lawsuit filed to cancel the results of the CHP’s leadership election. In the case filed with the request to cancel the 38th Ordinary Congress where Özgür Özel was elected, the local court had rejected the cancellation request, and the file was transferred to the appellate stage. This process has become a major topic of debate in Ankara political circles.

INTERNAL DISPUTES WITHIN AKP AND MHP

In his post, Tayyar indicated that some authorized figures within the AKP and MHP are opposed to an 'absolute nullity' ruling. According to Tayyar, it is stated that MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli is also against this decision, bringing internal disputes to the fore. Tayyar said, “Figures who believe it would not be right for internal disputes to flare up before the situation regarding the Iran war becomes clear are trying to reduce the tension between politics and the judiciary.”

Tayyar also brought an interesting claim regarding the CHP to the agenda. He alleged that some figures within the CHP leadership have sent messages of 'cooperation' to the People's Alliance to prevent an 'absolute nullity' ruling. Tayyar stated that these claims are being discussed in political circles. However, Tayyar reiterated that the appellate court is not expected to reach a decision within May, emphasizing that the process will take longer.
