In recent days, it was decided that the first hearing in the Sinan Ateş assassination case would be held between July 1-5. In a post on her social media account, Selma Ateş recalled that the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) voted against the motion submitted to parliament to investigate the assassination, and posed the following question:

"Anyone who says 'I am an idealist' would investigate the death of a former Idealist Hearths (Ülkü Ocakları) President and demand accountability. Guess who voted against the motion in parliament to investigate the Sinan Ateş assassination? The Nationalist Movement Party... Why don't you want it investigated?"
