Adıyaman Mayor Abdurrahman Tutdere has released a message on his social media account following his detention in an operation carried out last weekend.
In a handwritten message, Tutdere addressed the people of Adıyaman, calling on them to continue their work in unity and solidarity.
Tutdere included the following statements in his message:
“My very dear fellow citizens of Adıyaman, my brothers and sisters, who stood side by side during a great catastrophe like February 6th and maintained your unity, solidarity, and brotherhood against all kinds of difficulties: My colleagues, with whom we shared a common destiny in the March 31 elections and worked together for our city, for our town, and for the beautiful children of these lands: We will continue to work for Adıyaman, which is reborn from its ashes together and which made its voice heard to all of Turkey with its stance in the March 31 elections. We will work with the same excitement, the same transparency, and the same courage. Even though I cannot be among you and by your side for a short time, I know that you will work even harder by standing together. Continue your work without interruption, without breaking your unity. Rest assured. As your mayor, I have not been involved in any work or transaction outside of law and justice, and I never will be. You are all witnesses to my commitment to the people of Adıyaman and the effort and work I have shown for the reconstruction of Adıyaman. By taking ownership of our municipality and our people, you will not let my absence be felt. I send my deepest greetings and love from the Vatan Police Department detention center. As a man of law, my trust in justice is absolute.”
