Journalist İsmail Saymaz wrote that in SONAR Research's latest poll, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu is 5 points ahead of the People's Alliance IMM Mayoral Candidate Murat Kurum.

Saymaz stated the following in his post on X:

"In Hakan Bayrakçı's latest Istanbul research, the gap between İmamoğlu and Kurum has exceeded 5 points. İmamoğlu is widening the gap. Bayrakçı had determined the gap to be 2.8 (points) the previous week."

After the poll in question became a topic of discussion, a statement also came from SONAR owner Hakan Bayrakçı.

Bayrakçı stated that they had not made 'any poll announcement' themselves.

Bayrakçı used the following expressions in his X message:

"As Sonar, we have not yet made any poll announcement regarding Istanbul. We kindly ask that the announcement to be made by SONAR regarding the Istanbul election be awaited."

In another post, Saymaz said, "Hakan Bayrakçı spoke to Enver Aysever. He states that he will announce the new Istanbul research in the evening. Bayrakçı says, 'İmamoğlu appears to be in the lead'."

İMAMOĞLU APPEARS TO BE IN THE LEAD

In the video where the relevant recording was published, Bayrakçı uses the following expressions:

"We will make our official announcement tonight or tomorrow morning. From my or SONAR's social media accounts. Therefore, while the final situation will become clear towards the evening, İmamoğlu appears to be in the lead. More or less around what you said, a little below or a little above.

If the poll we conducted ends with a gap of around 2-2.5 points, it will remain within the margin of error. If the gap exceeds 3-4 points, it will become a gap we are more certain of."
