Former Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu had stated both in Parliament and at a press conference he held on December 28, 2022, two years ago, "There are 505 people with links to terrorism who were hired at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality during the Ekrem İmamoğlu era. You will answer to the nation for this."

'I THINK WE SHOULD NOT GET INTO THIS DEBATE'

According to the report by Emin Özgönül from Sözcü; CHP Aydın Deputy Süleyman Bülbül asked AKP Deputy Soylu at the TBMM Interior Commission meeting, "I have been wanting to ask you for a long time. You said, 'There are 505 terrorists in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.' Where are these terrorists? Two years have passed, they are not there. Turkey cannot be governed with unlawful, subjective statements."

Soylu said he did not want to enter into a debate on this issue and stated, "You said there are 500-something terrorists, you didn't say it. I come from politics. This debate was held before the municipal elections," and said the following:

"It is a process carried out by the Civil Inspection Board and judicial units. At that time, approximately 120 people were removed from there in the first stage, and it continued afterwards. In other words, the people there were listed from top to bottom, it is in the files. It was sent to the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. I think we should not get into this debate. I would be happy to explain this to you another time. It is a legal matter, my lawyer also said so. My client is also a politician, of course, he has the right to political evaluation. God sees everything, that is the point I have reached in the end."

"WHO IS HIDING THEM!"

IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu also said regarding the issue, "We asked for information about this, but we did not receive an answer. We struggled to reach the terrorists allegedly present in the IMM and to take legal action, but someone is hiding the terrorists in the IMM. Not only did the Ministry not provide us with information, but there is also a difference between our data and the Ministry's data."
