Square fills up for rally in Üsküdar: Citizens gather at İskele Square
Citizens gathered at Üsküdar İskele Square upon the call of the YENİ Party to protest the process that resulted in the municipal administration passing to the AKP.

The political process that began in Üsküdar following the arrest and suspension of Mayor Sinem Dedetaş is being protested in the square today. The YENİ Party is holding a rally at Üsküdar İskele Square against the change in municipal administration that occurred after the deputy mayoral election was annulled by a court decision and four municipal council members switched to the AKP.
It was announced that YENİ Party Chairman Özgür Özel would also attend the gathering, which is scheduled to begin at 19:00. Before the rally, citizens began to gather in the square with Turkish flags, YENİ Party banners, and posters of Ekrem İmamoğlu.
YENİ Party Istanbul Provincial Chairman Özgür Çelik had used the phrases “The decision belongs to the nation, Üsküdar belongs to the nation” in his call for the rally. Özgür Özel had also invited citizens to the square in a post on his X account.

The banners carried by some citizens in the rally area also drew attention. One citizen was seen arriving at the area with the slogan “Rights, law, justice are suspended.”
