Statement from Deniz Yavuzyılmaz after investigation launched into his wife: “I will not be intimidated”

CHP deputy Yavuzyılmaz made a statement following the launch of an investigation into his wife, Serpil Yavuzyılmaz, on charges of “extortion” and “fraud to the detriment of public institutions or organizations.”

In a post on his social media account titled “To the Attention of the Public,” Yavuzyılmaz stated that throughout his tenure as a deputy, he has pursued allegations of corruption, irregularities, and public losses involving the AKP, and argued that he is being targeted for this reason.

Yavuzyılmaz expressed that he had expected attacks due to the files he has been working on and his statements regarding what he describes as a “fund swindle,” but that he did not foresee it being carried out through his family.

Stating that the allegations brought forward are “baseless,” Yavuzyılmaz claimed that the purpose of the process is to prevent the files he has brought to the agenda from being discussed.

“Attacking me from here, and through my wife at that, is an assassination of character and an attempt to silence me. Those who are carrying out this operation are clearly saying: ‘You and your party, stop digging into this fund swindle issue any further!’”

In his statement, Yavuzyılmaz noted that the intention is to send a message to deputies and their families through him, adding, “I will not be intimidated by this threat, by this baseness. I will continue with determination to pursue the AKP’s corruption, irregularities, and public losses.”
