Statement from Erdoğan and Raisi: "It is important to strengthen our cooperation against terrorism for the security of our region"

Erdoğan made important statements at a joint press conference with Iranian President Raisi.

Erdoğan's statements:

I condemn the heinous terrorist attack that took place in Kerman on January 3. I would like to express that Turkey stands with Iran in the fight against terrorism.

We discussed bilateral and regional relations and issues, primarily Gaza. We have a trade volume target of 30 billion dollars. We once again emphasized the importance of acting together on the issue of terrorism. We touched upon the importance of further strengthening our cooperation against the PKK/PYD/YPG and PJAK, which target the security of our countries and our region. We signed 10 new agreements. 

We talked about the issues occurring in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, and the South Caucasus. Our Foreign Ministers attended the UN Security Council session on Palestine. We reiterated our determination to continue our efforts to ensure the well-being of our brothers and sisters in Gaza. We have sent 30 thousand tons of humanitarian aid materials.

We discussed the need to take urgent steps to end Israel's inhumane attacks on Gaza as soon as possible. The Palestinian issue is at the center of both Turkey's and Iran's focus. We renewed our decision to continue our cooperation on the Palestinian issue. 

Raisi's statements:

I am pleased to be in friendly and brotherly Turkey and to hold the eighth high-level cooperation meeting here at the level of the esteemed President of the Republic of Turkey and his Ministers, and the Ministers of the Islamic Republic of Iran. We had common ideas. We have had good relations between our two countries and we want to take them to a higher level. We believe that Iran and Turkey, as friends and brothers, have higher capacities. We have targeted increasing our trade volume to 30 billion dollars. 

We have shown our will for cooperation in the fight against terrorism, drugs, and organized crime. Iran has not hesitated in the fight against terrorism. We must always keep the name of our great martyr Sardar Soleimani alive as a hero in this regard. We have given many martyrs; the Americans openly said during their election campaigns that they created DAESH. It is developing with the support of the US and Zionism.

The most important thing in the fight against terrorism is cooperation with regional countries and their strong will. We see the slightest insecurity in the region as insecurity for the entire region. Those who want to sow seeds of discord among regional countries due to the problems created by this system, and those who want to practice discrimination, are working to undermine regional security. 

The most important issue that disturbs free people all over the world is the Palestinian issue and the cruel behaviors of the Zionist regime. It is the primary issue of the Islamic world. These actions of the Zionist regime receive the support of the US and some Western countries. The US is currently carrying out these crimes. The UN and international platforms have lost their functionality. 

We must strive to establish a new, just world order by communicating with Muslim countries and the freedom-loving countries of the world. The UN Security Council and the UN have lost their function. We must strive for a global and just order. Our cooperation with Turkey in this field will be effective. 

If countries that have relations with Zionism adopt a deterrent stance against this country, it will be effective in ending these crimes. In our meetings with Erdoğan, we agreed on supporting the Palestinian side and the axis of resistance. This is their right, and those who commit oppression must be tried. The people there have been oppressed for 75 years.
