Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Özgür Özel visited the hospital in İzmir where Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık, who is undergoing cancer treatment and whose condition worsened in prison, is undergoing examinations. Speaking to members of the press after the visit,

Özel stated that Çalık would be allowed to meet with his mother.

In his statement, Özgür Özel said, "With the approval of both our professor and the authorities, I transferred the one-person visitation right granted to me to Mehmet Murat Çalık's mother. His mother has been waiting in the garden for days. Today, a family visit will be held, and he will be allowed to see his mother."

Emphasizing that the treatment process will be closely monitored, Özel stated, "Whatever is necessary for his treatment will be done. The most appropriate steps will be taken for the examinations. We will not let anyone trample on our rights. It is not our business to trample on anyone else's rights or to act unjustly."

"ENEMY LAW IS BEING APPLIED"

Stating that the process is not being conducted fairly, Özel said, "This happens in Nazi Germany; it is enemy law! But the 'White Taurus' gang will be held accountable for that enemy law. We will file a complaint with the Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK) tomorrow. I will pursue the White Taurus gang to the end, even if it takes years."

Özel stated that all resources will be mobilized for the improvement of Çalık's health and that the process will be followed meticulously.
