As discussions continue regarding the health status of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Deputy Secretary General Mahir Polat, who is currently held in Silivri Prison after being arrested on charges of "membership in a terrorist organization" as part of the "urban consensus" investigation into the İBB, a statement has come from Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz.

When asked about Mahir Polat's situation during a television program he attended, Yılmaz stated that Polat had been transferred to the hospital several times previously and was most recently sent to the Council of Forensic Medicine. Yılmaz said, "The Council of Forensic Medicine is an expert institution; the necessary procedures will be carried out according to the report that will be issued from there."

''NO ONE SHOULD HAVE ANY CONCERNS''

Drawing attention to the right to health of individuals in prison, Cevdet Yılmaz said the following:

“Regardless of the crime committed, those in prison are entrusted to our state and the law. In the case of Mahir Polat, his transfer to the hospital was carried out. However, due to the persistence of his complaints, an application was made to the Council of Forensic Medicine. The Council of Forensic Medicine is an expert authority on this matter. Procedures will be carried out according to its decision. The duty that falls upon state institutions is to protect people's health. No one should have any concerns about this.
