Statement from TİP on Ahmet Şık: His struggle in pursuit of the truth is our struggle

The Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP) has released a written statement regarding Istanbul MP Ahmet Şık. The party argued that Şık has been made a target by certain pro-government circles due to the investigations he has been conducting into the "fund file."

The statement noted that Şık has been conducting the aforementioned investigations with the knowledge of the party's authorized bodies. TİP stated that there is an attempt to cover up the fraud, corruption, and political connections that it claims have emerged as a result of these investigations.

In the party's statement, it was said, "Ahmet Şık is our MP, our comrade. All of Turkey is a witness to the fact that for years, he has been a courageous journalist dedicated to his people and his country, who pursues only the truth under any and all circumstances."

The statement, which noted that Şık has been targeted in different periods in the past as well, used the following expressions: "He has paid prices just for doing his job, but in the end, he has always been proven right. Those who made him a target have taken their places in the dustbin of history."

TİP stated that Şık, his family, and his friends are being targeted, noting that the debate should not be conducted through individuals and private lives. The statement said, "Those who make Ahmet Şık, his family, and his friends a target should stop dealing with individuals and private lives, and if they have the courage, they should make it their duty to expose the fund scandal and the dirty network behind it."

The party's statement concluded with the words, "Ahmet Şık has not taken a single step back to this day. We once again declare that our comrade's struggle in pursuit of the truth is our struggle. We recognize no power other than the truth and the people. We will take back everything that has been stolen from our people, and we will certainly hold them accountable."
