The Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) issued a call on the 100th anniversary of the Republic under the title, 'Our greeting is not for mansions or palaces, but for the people.'

The Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) held a 'Republic' march in 3 major cities the other day.

In a statement made on its official account, the TKP said, ''Our greeting is not for mansions or palaces, but for the people! Our call is a call to struggle for the Republic, for socialism.''

''THE REPUBLIC WAS DESTROYED BY THE HANDS OF BOSSES''

The statement from the TKP is as follows:

''This people saw fire and betrayal. They saw the occupation, the collaborators, the traitors, and those who surrendered the country to the occupiers from their palaces. But they did not bow down; they rebelled and stood up. Our poor people, who stood up 100 years ago, first ended the occupation, then put an end to the sultanate and the caliphate, and declared the Republic. Greetings to those who stood up, to those who claimed their country, and to the leaders of that struggle. Greetings to Mustafa Kemal and his friends who declared the Republic 100 years ago today.

Now, 100 years later today, it is time to roll up our sleeves again! We learn that the Republic is to be saluted at the mansion of the traitor Vahdettin, who surrendered the country to the occupiers! It is time to respond to this open challenge just as it was 100 years ago. The Republic, which was founded by the poor people of this country standing up, has been destroyed by the hands of bosses today. All the values of the Republic have been eliminated one by one.

They waged war on the idea of enlightenment and secularism and surrendered the country to sects and religious communities. On one side are the bosses, on one side are the sects, and on one side is the political power that represents them... We challenge this dark order of yours, this order of exploitation. We will once again raise the idea of the Republic, which you have collectively liquidated and trampled upon.

The idea of the Republic will rise everywhere in our beautiful country; socialism will suit the Republic very well! Come on, to the struggle for the Republic, for socialism.
