Statement on amnesty from the AKP

AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik announced that the 11th Judicial Package will be submitted to Parliament on Friday.

Speaking after his party's Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting, Çelik stated regarding the 11th Judicial Package: "The judicial package is not related to issues such as 'amnesty' or similar topics that have been discussed. As you know, a regulation regarding execution arrangements was made in June; perhaps there is an evaluation regarding their update. The final draft is being worked on. It will be delivered to the Speaker of Parliament on Friday or thereabouts. After that, it will come to the commission."

The package includes regulations concerning cyber fraud crimes, phone fraud, virtual betting, virtual gambling, those who cause disturbances during celebration days, those who block traffic, aggravated life imprisonment, and organized crime.

AKP Group Chairperson Abdullah Güler, who had made a statement regarding the package, had previously announced that its submission to Parliament had been postponed.

The regulation regarding increasing the penalties for children under the age of 18 was removed from the package in order for the matter to be addressed in detail by a research commission to be established.
