Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz answered journalists' questions following the announcement of the Medium-Term Program (MTP) covering the 2027-2029 period. In his assessment regarding the election calendar, Yılmaz stated that the program was prepared with the assumption of elections being held on time.

Responding to a question about the election process, Yılmaz said, “We prepared this program thinking that the elections would be held on time, towards the spring or summer of 2028. We did not engage in any speculative assumptions there.”

Yılmaz emphasized that the decision on whether the election date will be moved forward is under the authority of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. Stating, “These are matters for our Parliament to decide,” Yılmaz added, “If it is to bring the election forward a bit, that is at the discretion of the Parliament. We thought it would not be right to make an assumption at this stage.”

Macroeconomic targets were also included in the MTP. In the program, the year-end inflation forecast was raised from 16 percent to 28.4 percent.

It is projected that inflation will decline to 21 percent in 2027, 13.5 percent in 2028, and 9 percent in 2029.
