Following the PKK's announcement on May 12 regarding its decision to lay down arms and dissolve itself, traffic between political parties regarding the 'execution regulation' has accelerated. It is anticipated that AKP Group Chairman Abdullah Güler, who has held meetings with the MHP and DEM Party, will conclude his discussions with other parties in Parliament by the end of this week. The draft text prepared by the AKP and MHP is expected to be submitted to the Speaker of Parliament by the AKP before June 5, following the necessary amendments. Deliberations on the proposal will take place after the holiday break.

Speaking to Hilal Köylü from Serbestiyet, MHP Deputy Chairman in charge of Legal and Election Affairs Feti Yıldız said regarding the regulation, “It should also cover KHK victims.”

Yıldız stated, “The Grand National Assembly of Turkey must first create an execution law that centers on human dignity, is understandable to convicts, is not complex, observes the rehabilitative functions of punishment, ensures equality and justice in execution, does not cause a perception of impunity, and will not require frequent changes.”

MESSAGE ON THE CONSTITUTION

MHP's Yıldız also sent a message that "new constitution" efforts would begin following the execution regulation, saying, “The new constitution will shape Turkey's future along with a legal reform. A strong new constitution that will protect Turkey's national identity, geographical integrity, and political unity in every aspect is essential.”
