Statements from Özgür Özel on May 1st and Ümit Özdağ

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel made significant remarks at the "23 New Openings During the Week of April 23rd" event organized by the Ankara Keçiören Municipality. Özel announced that they will gather with workers in the squares on May 1st, Labor Day. He also stated that they will attend the trial of Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ.

Özel said, "We will not hold our group meeting this Tuesday because Ümit Özdağ has a court hearing. We will be there by his side. The following day, we will attend the hearing of our Youth Branch Chairman Cem Aydın and stand behind him. We will continue our legal struggle without interruption."

MANSUR YAVAŞ EMPHASIZES THE RULE OF LAW

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş also spoke at the ceremony, emphasizing that the detention process is contrary to the universal principles of law.

Yavaş stated, "The first thing taught in law schools is that detention is the exception. The presumption of innocence must always be interpreted in favor of the defendant. However, we see that they arrest first and then look for evidence. This is contrary to the fundamental principles of law. Mayor Ekrem and other elected mayors must be released immediately."

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş and Keçiören Mayor Dr. Mesut Özarslan also attended the ceremony.
