Statements made ahead of the meeting between Erdoğan and the DEM Party Imralı Delegation

Ahead of the meeting to be held with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar from the DEM Party Imralı Delegation made assessments to the public. While Buldan emphasized that the meeting is critical, Sancar stated that the commission's work is nearing its end.

The time for the important meeting to be held between the DEM Party Imralı Delegation and President Erdoğan at Beştepe has been announced as 14:30. Speaking to the press, delegation member Pervin Buldan stated that this meeting will have a special place in the process.

Buldan said, “We have been meeting with the President from time to time since the process began. We last met about 3.5 months ago. Our meeting again shows the importance of the stage reached. The Parliamentary Commission's report has now reached the drafting stage. The expectations of society and stakeholders are growing. Important topics will be on the table in our meeting today. We will make a statement to inform the public afterwards. We hope it will lead to good outcomes.”

Mithat Sancar, drawing attention to the importance of recent developments, said, “Many new developments have taken place both within the country and in our surroundings, especially in Syria. We have now reached the final steps in the Parliamentary Commission. We will share all these topics with the President and convey our suggestions. Parties are working on drafts for the commission report; we are aiming for the broadest possible consensus. A common ground can be established; we hope that all parties will make good use of this opportunity.”

Sancar stated that they want to produce solutions aimed at social relief in accordance with the spirit of the process and that they, as the DEM Party, will provide the contribution expected of them for the sake of reconciliation. He also underlined that they expect other parties to demonstrate a similar approach. It was also reported that more detailed information regarding the developments and the roadmap for the process would be shared after the meeting.
