Striking claim about Devlet Bahçeli, who told Erdoğan 'You cannot quit'! 'He pressed the button...'

Re-elected as MHP Chairman, Devlet Bahçeli addressed the 'This is my last election' statement made by AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at his party's congress.

Addressing Erdoğan, Bahçeli said, "You cannot leave, you cannot leave the Turkish nation alone."

Evaluating Bahçeli's move, which has become the focus of the political agenda, Korkusuz columnist Can Ataklı said, "If Devlet Bahçeli is taking such a clear stance on such an important issue, it is now very clear that when 2027 arrives, the parliament will take an early election decision upon Erdoğan's instruction."

In his column titled "Bahçeli pressed the button, the path to a 4th candidacy will be opened for Erdoğan", Ataklı noted the following:

“According to the constitution, if a president who has been elected for the second time decides on an early election one year before completing their term, they are granted the chance to run for office again. As a matter of fact, I have been voicing warnings on this issue since before the constitutional referendum where the presidential government system was “supposedly” accepted. At that time, I said, “Erdoğan had such a clause added to the constitution that if he is elected twice, he will be able to run for a third time.” So, what is needed for this plan to work?

FIRST: Erdoğan must win Istanbul in the local elections to be held in 14 days. If Istanbul remains in the hands of the opposition again, it will be very difficult for this plan to work.

SECOND: Erdoğan must not only win Istanbul but also increase his vote share. In the last general election, the AKP's votes fell almost to the 2002 level. If this rate drops even further, the plan will not proceed as desired.

THIRD: Erdoğan winning Istanbul and increasing his vote share is not enough. In this local election, the total votes of the AKP and its coalition partners, primarily the MHP, must exceed 50 percent. If the total votes of the opposition exceed 50 percent in this election, “national will,” which is Erdoğan's strongest weapon, will not be as strong an argument as it used to be.

FOURTH: 367 votes are required in parliament for an early election decision to be taken. The number of deputies from the AKP, MHP, and others they brought into parliament does not meet this. The deputies of the Saadet, Gelecek, and Deva parties, who were carried into parliament on the backs of the IYI Party and CHP, must also join this decision.

CONCLUSION: The forces holding the state administration will do everything to ensure Erdoğan does not leave. Because it is very difficult for them to ensure the continuation of this order without him.
