There is less than 6 months left until the local elections. In the opposition front, where debates over alliances continue, the CHP is preparing to hold its 38th Ordinary Convention on November 4-5.

Journalist Fehmi Koru shared the results of the latest public opinion survey conducted by Metropoll Research in an article published on his personal website.

In the survey, it was noted that the current standing of political parties is significantly lower than the vote percentages they received in the May 14 general elections. On the other hand, the survey also asked citizens about the CHP, which is preparing for its convention.

Fehmi Koru, in his article titled "A poll; all parties are losing favor, a surprise result could emerge from the CHP convention", provided the following details:

"There is no election this Sunday; the nearest election is the 'local election', but that is at the end of March. Still, let me ask my question: If there were an election next Sunday, which party would you vote for?

Polling companies ask such a question at certain intervals. Metropoll also asked citizens between October 10-16.

The results seemed very interesting to me.

The rate of those considering voting for the AK Party, which received 35.32% of the vote in the May elections, is 15.2%…

The CHP received 25.41% in the last election; those considering voting for it are 15.2%…

The MHP received 10.04%, now it can get 4.7%.

The IYI Party's vote was 9.90%; it also appears to have fallen to 5.7%.

The party that participated in the election under the name Green Left Party and received 8.79% of the vote has now taken the name Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (HEDEP), and the vote it could receive appears to be 5.9%.

Those who could vote for the New Welfare Party are 1.3%, those who could vote for the Victory Party are 1.4%, and the votes of other parties total 3.4%.

The remainder, those who say "I am undecided" (20.3), those who will cast a protest vote (11.8), and those who do not want to answer (7.1%) form the largest group at 39.2%…

Perhaps such a lack of interest in existing parties has not been seen much before.

This picture might come as a surprise to some of us, but it did not to me; many of us did not cast our votes wholeheartedly in the last election; after casting them, developments that would make some of us regret it occurred because things did not go according to our expectations. And they are still occurring.

IS THERE A POSSIBILITY OF CHANGE HAPPENING IN THE CHP?

There are findings in Metropoll's research that could also serve as an answer to this question.

The question "Would you like Özgür Özel or Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu to be the CHP chairman?" was asked to all respondents. Our people want Özgür Özel (46.5%) more than Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu (22.5%). More than double.

When looking at the data a bit more closely, it is understood that the situation is not much different in the preferences of voters who voted for the CHP in the previous election: Ö. Özel 58.5%, K. Kılıçdaroğlu 27.9%…

More importantly, in Metropoll's poll from a month ago, K. Kılıçdaroğlu (44.2%) was ahead of Ö. Özel (41.9%). The situation has reversed in one month…

(I have acquaintances from both camps. When I spoke separately with a friend close to Kılıçdaroğlu and an acquaintance close to Özel about the situation that would be reflected in the convention, both said that the candidate they supported was ahead. And with definitive expressions. One of the two sides will encounter a surprise at the convention.)

Will this picture change in the local election?

It can change, of course, but according to the Metropoll research, the situation is like this today.
