Striking statements about Minister Tekin! Umut Akdoğan explained one by one: 'In the Cihannüma association...'

Backlash has grown following Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin's remarks on secularism. While Minister Tekin defended his views on "secularism," CHP's Umut Akdoğan criticized him regarding a past incident and drew a connection. Akdoğan, who also made statements regarding teachers who were rapists and abusers and were members of the Cihannüma Association—which Minister Tekin founded—said, "Isn't this shame, this disgrace enough for all of us?"

Speaking in Batman, Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin pointed to the main opposition and said, "What you understand from secularism is this: remember the 1940s, locking the doors of mosques, turning mosques into stables, banning citizens from learning the Quran."

Stating, "You did these as a requirement of secularism," Tekin continued, "Then what you understand from secularism and what I understand from secularism are not the same. You understand secularism as banning and putting shackles on the freedom of belief of Muslims. You are imposing on me a secularism you invented yourself. This cannot be. You took children who wanted to go to university with headscarves into persuasion rooms in the name of secularism. Some people who want to impose their own ideological perspectives on us are forcing concepts upon us that never align with universal definitions and are criticizing us based on that."

While reactions grew like an avalanche following Minister Tekin's 'secularism' remarks, the response from CHP Ankara MP Umut Akdoğan was not delayed.

Sharing on his X social media account, Umut Akdoğan said the following in his video titled 'Let's see who the enemy of secularism, Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin, is in 2.5 minutes':

"Look, I want to show you a photo. In 2015, I was not an MP, but I was in the party administration. At that time, we went to Karaman with our Chairman, who was our group deputy chairman, Mr. Veli Ağbaba, who is with us today. We identified a very important incident in Karaman, dear MPs...

A piece of a teacher had harassed, abused, and raped dozens of students. This piece of a teacher was removed from his post, tried, and is currently in prison; there is no problem here.

However, when we went there that day, there was a Karaman Provincial Director of National Education. The distance between the office of the Karaman Provincial Director of National Education and the place where the harassment incident we identified occurred was 200 meters.

We went to this Provincial Director of National Education. We said, 'Do you know this teacher named Muharrem?', 'I swear I don't know him,' he said. 'Do you know that abuse happened here?', 'I swear I don't know,' he said. One day after we asked these questions, a photo of this harassing, raping piece of a teacher and this Provincial Director of National Education emerged at the place where the abuse incident took place. Then what happened? The Provincial Director of National Education was also removed from his post.

There is no problem with what happened up to this point, right?

A harassing, raping piece of a teacher, a lying Provincial Director of National Education...

So what happened, dear MPs?

Do you know who this removed Provincial Director of National Education is?

He has been the Provincial Director of National Education in Şanlıurfa for nearly a year...

Isn't this shame, this disgrace enough for all of us?

Why is he the Provincial Director of National Education in Şanlıurfa?

Because there is an association called Cihannüma. One of the founders of this association is Yusuf Tekin, and these immoral, ill-mannered people are members of that Cihannüma association..."
