Striking Syria assessment from Ümit Özdağ: "You were the ones working for Israel from day one"

Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ made a striking post on his social media account. Referring to the speech delivered by Jewish-origin Jeffrey David Sachs, an advisor to former United Nations Secretaries-General Kofi Annan and Ban Ki-moon, at a diplomacy platform in Antalya on April 12, 2025, Özdağ evaluated the background of the Syrian civil war.

In his post, emphasizing that past policies regarding Syria should be re-examined, Özdağ pointed to the consequences of the attitudes adopted in the path to toppling the Syrian administration.

Özdağ stated, "Those who shouted, 'We have toppled Bashar al-Assad, we have conquered Syria,' and called the Zafer Party and me pro-Israel, listen to Jeffrey David Sachs's assessment and try to understand. From the very first day, you were the ones who were actually working for Israel."
