Strong message from the 'null and void' administration on CHP's 103rd anniversary: 'Shame on those who dragged the party to court'

The CHP will celebrate its 103rd anniversary in the shadow of an absolute nullity ruling that invalidates the party conventions held in 2023 and beyond. Staffers of the administration, which returned to duty following the ruling, argued that the CHP would overcome these controversies, stating, “Shame on those who dragged this party to court.”

The Republican People's Party (CHP) is celebrating its 103rd anniversary in the shadow of an absolute nullity ruling. Following the decision issued by the Ankara Regional Court of Justice 36th Civil Chamber on May 21, the administration elected at the party's convention 6 years ago returned to duty, while the conventions held by the CHP in 2023 and thereafter were deemed invalid.

The ruling in question also invalidated the convention that incorporated the Sivas Congress of September 4 into the party bylaws as the founding date of the CHP. The party will proceed with its anniversary program while this controversial process continues.

As part of the program, the administration that returned to duty following the court's nullity ruling will visit Anıtkabir in the morning. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu is expected to meet with party bodies, provincial chairs, and organizations at 15:00. At 17:00, a “103-year legacy with our 103 youth” gathering will be held at the museum in the headquarters. The day will conclude with an anniversary reception.

"SHAME ON THOSE WHO DRAGGED THE PARTY TO COURT"

Evaluating the fact that the celebrations are taking place following the court ruling, staffers of the 'null and void' administration emphasized that the decision was made outside of their own will. According to a report by Cumhuriyet, sources stated, "The court ruling is a decision made outside of us. Shame on those who dragged this party to court. The CHP always protects itself. Disregarding one of Atatürk's two great works is considered a betrayal of the trust. And we cannot betray that trust. The CHP may diminish or grow, but it continues on its path. Its struggle is not dependent on individuals."

The staffers also recalled that figures who left the CHP in the past had formed new parties, noting that these structures lost their influence over time while the CHP continued on its path.

It was stated that in the speech Kılıçdaroğlu is set to deliver, he is expected to focus more on the CHP's vision for Turkey rather than internal party disputes. According to administrative circles, the speech will highlight proposed solutions to the country's fundamental problems in the second century of the republic, as well as national and international assessments.

HOW WILL THE CONVENTION CALENDAR PROCEED?

On the other hand, the congress calendar for the CHP is planned to begin at the end of September. Administrative staffers state that member lists will be obtained from the Court of Cassation on September 21 and that the entire congress process could be completed in approximately four months. The date of the convention is expected to be announced based on the ruling to be issued by the Court of Cassation regarding the convention lawsuit.
