The petition campaign launched by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel has also resonated abroad. Gönül Fidan, President of the CHP Munich Union, stated in her announcement that they launched the campaign in Munich on the same day and will set up stands in areas with high Turkish populations for one week.
"WE INVITE EVERYONE TO OUR STANDS"
Fidan said, "We have launched the petition campaign that our Chairman started today here in Munich as well. We invite everyone who wants to support this democratic call to our stands. We believe the campaign will spread to other cities in Germany as well."
Fidan noted that hundreds of people lined up to sign on the first day, adding, "This high level of participation has once again shown how sensitive Turkish citizens living abroad are to developments in Turkey."
Stating that those participating in the campaign are expressing their demands for early elections and democracy, Fidan emphasized the purpose of the campaign with the words, "The anti-democratic practices occurring in our country deeply affect not only those in Turkey but also us citizens living abroad. We want early elections and believe that our presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu must be free."
