Suat Toktaş gives a sharp response to Barış Yarkadaş's 'gift' allegation

The debate that began after Barış Yarkadaş and former Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Melih Gökçek shared the same text on their social media accounts has taken on a new dimension with the response from Halk TV Editor-in-Chief Suat Toktaş.

Yarkadaş and Gökçek shared an image of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) decision published in the Official Gazette dated July 17, 2026, stating, "The commission where 'immunity files' are discussed will not go on vacation. It seems a 'hotter summer' awaits Turkey."

Halk TV commentator and economy writer İbrahim Kahveci reacted to these posts on his social media account, saying, "If their command centers told them to wear priest robes, would they wear them?"

Responding to Kahveci's outburst, Barış Yarkadaş made serious accusations against him. Yarkadaş argued that Kahveci had previously worked in pro-AKP media and claimed that today, at Halk TV, he is "trying to cover up corruption in CHP-run municipalities."

In his statement, Yarkadaş also targeted Suat Toktaş and Halk TV owner Cafer Mahiroğlu, alleging that a formula was presented to Kahveci "in exchange for a salary increase and accepting the gifts sent to Suat and Cafer."

Suat Toktaş gave a sharp response to these remarks by Yarkadaş on his social media account. In his post, Toktaş stated, "You think everyone is like you. 'Dignity' may no longer mean anything to you, but it is an important value for me. Lies have made a home in your mouth; you have no boundaries left. If you cannot prove it, you are dishonorable."
