The resignations within the AKP organization in Diyarbakır have caused a stir within the party. The organization, which suffered a loss of votes in the last local elections with a 14 percent vote share, had decided to hold a congress on January 10, 2025, and appointed Ömer İler, the imam of the Nebi Peygamber Mosque, as the Provincial Chair. However, the recent string of resignations, particularly in the district chairmanships, has clearly brought internal party disputes to the surface.

In addition to Bağlar District Chair Lawyer Sadık Başar Gür and Kayapınar District Chair Lawyer Mehmet İhsan Aytekin, Ergani District Chair Serdal Karakaş and Çınar District Chair Ömer Delil also announced their resignations.

ALLEGATIONS OF DISCOMFORT WITHIN THE ORGANIZATION

According to allegations, the discomfort within the organization has not remained limited to the district level. In party corridors, it is being discussed that Provincial Chair Ömer İler could also be dismissed, and reports regarding this matter have been submitted to the headquarters. However, it is claimed that Diyarbakır MPs Galip Ensarioğlu and Mehmet Sait Yaz opposed this process and that the Provincial Chair remains in his seat for now. Furthermore, allegations that Ömer İler has had disagreements with certain institution directors are also being voiced in the corridors. It is also suggested that the dismissal of the district chairs is a result of the provincial chair's contacts with the center.

Provincial Chair Ömer İler, however, categorically denied these allegations and emphasized that he continues his duty. İler stated, "The situation of our friends who resigned is entirely at the discretion of our headquarters. There is no such thing as us having incompatible working relationships with public officials or institution directors. The allegations are baseless. Since there are no longer allegations of theft or corruption, some people want to deal with us. I am at the head of my duty."
