The AKP, which suffered a defeat in the March 31 Local Elections and fell to the position of the second party nationwide for the first time, also lost cities it considered its strongholds.
In Adıyaman, one of the leading cities among these, AKP Provincial Chair Emrah Bulucu had resigned from his post in June.
According to the report in Sözcü, it has been learned that AKP Adıyaman Central District Chair Ziya Başaran, Besni District Chair Murat Güner, and Kahta District Chair Osman Çetinkaya have resigned from their duties.

In a statement he made on social media, AKP Adıyaman Central District Chair Ziya Başaran, who resigned from his post, said, "Our devoted and self-sacrificing organization members put in an effort-intensive endeavor during the March 31 local administration elections. We could not achieve the desired result in the election outcomes. The appreciation of our people is above everything. In this vein, as the loud voice of the oppressed and victims, and as a fellow traveler and companion in the cause of the leader of the Ummah, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, I have requested my pardon from our AKP Headquarters and have resigned as of today from my position as the AKP Adıyaman Central District Chair, which I have held for approximately 2 years."
