Süleyman Soylu's bodyguard abandoned the armored vehicle and fled: 'Yerlikaya is baffled...'

Former Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu had announced via the Cumhuriyet newspaper that he would apply to the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) to have his immunity lifted.

Halk TV columnist İsmail Saymaz reported that an armored vehicle crisis occurred at the Ministry of Interior following this development.

"Former Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu had been silent for a long time.

He was not sharpening his tongue at all.

He was waiting.

He broke his political seclusion on the anniversary of July 15.

By acting as if he were challenging the Cumhuriyet newspaper, he announced that he would apply to the TBMM to have his immunity lifted.

Unless there is a last-minute intervention from Beştepe, he is expected to submit his petition today. I learned that Soylu prepared the petition together with his advisors.

Although Soylu filing a petition does not automatically ensure his immunity is lifted.

Even if it did, it would not affect Soylu.

Because the accusations directed at Soylu stem from his decisions and actions during his ministerial years between 2016 and 2023. According to the Constitution, Soylu can only be tried at the Supreme Council (Yüce Divan) for his decisions and actions during his years as minister.

It has not been seen that the AK Party has referred its own minister to the Supreme Council. Therefore, Soylu is actually making a move he knows will not happen. However, this does not diminish the political importance of his protest.

Because the addressee of this protest and challenge is not the Cumhuriyet newspaper, but Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya and President Erdoğan themselves.

In fact, Soylu's armored vehicle move confirms this interpretation.

Soylu wanted to return three vehicles, one of which was armored, allocated by the Ministry of Interior the day before yesterday.

The Ministry accepted two of them but was unwilling to take the armored one.

The vehicle was not allowed into the ministry.

Soylu attempted a second time.

The Ministry did not take it again.

One of Soylu's men parked the vehicle on the road in front of the Ministry of Interior's Department of European Union and Foreign Relations, one kilometer away from the ministry, left the key with security, and fled rapidly.

Officials say the following:

“They brought the vehicle the day before yesterday. We didn't even take it inside, we said ‘it won't work.’ They brought it again, it was not accepted again. They left it on the road in front of our department building one kilometer away from the ministry. They gave the key to security and left. We didn't understand why such a thing happened either. It is out of the question for us to accept it. We informed the Presidency.”

The vehicle is currently in the ministry's garage.

It is being kept for Soylu to take back.

Stating that there is a special protection decision for ministers, officials say:

“An armored vehicle is essential for someone who is under threat. Even if he says ‘I am leaving it,’ no one can take this responsibility while there is a special protection decision. How are we going to bear the responsibility for this? What if something happens to the minister…”

DAŞDEMİR ANGERED THEM

The tweets of Hilmi Daşdemir, the owner of Optimar Research and one of the names close to Soylu, angered ministry officials.

Daşdemir wrote the following the day before yesterday:

“It is unacceptable that he, who has fought against terror and criminal networks to the core… and who, as the minister who established the infrastructure of the struggle, is being tried to be rendered insignificant by his successors through character assassination.”

Officials say of Daşdemir's tweet, “It is a piece of writing that will pit two ministers against each other.”

However, Daşdemir's tweet reflects Soylu's thoughts.

Soylu thinks that the Ayhan Bora Kaplan investigation is intended to be expanded to him and his family.

Soylu notes that Erdoğan had knowledge and approval of the actions during his ministry and that despite this, he was left alone in his party.

Furthermore, he cannot accept that while the rule “Members of Parliament will not be ministers” was relaxed for Murat Kurum, it is not applied to him.

His close circle argues that the cadres dominating the AK Party are marginalizing Soylu.

Soylu is also like the saying, “I am telling you, my daughter, so that you, my daughter-in-law, may understand…”

While responding to the CHP and the opposition media, he is actually addressing Erdoğan.
