The DEM Party Imralı Delegation met with AKP President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Presidential Palace in Beştepe at 14:30.

Before the meeting at the Palace, delegation members Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar made assessments to members of the press.

“WE HAVE IMPORTANT AGENDAS”

Stating, “We also believe this will be an important meeting,” Buldan made the following remarks:

“Since the process began, we have been meeting with the President from time to time. The last meeting was held 3.5 months ago. We will come together again; there is a certain stage the process has reached.

At a time when the Parliamentary Commission's report is moving into the drafting phase, there is also a great expectation. We have important agendas to discuss with the President today regarding how the process will proceed in the public eye. However, we will make a written statement after the meeting concludes. We will inform you and the public. We have said it is an important meeting, and we hope it leads to good outcomes.”

EMPHASIS ON COMMISSION REPORT AND CONSENSUS

Mithat Sancar, drawing attention to recent developments both in Turkey and Syria, said the following regarding the scope of the meeting:

“Since the latest developments, significant events have occurred; both here and in Syria. Furthermore, we have reached the final stage in the work of the Parliamentary Commission. We will, of course, discuss these with the President and share our views. We have proposals, and we will present them. Work is currently ongoing regarding the joint report of the Parliamentary Commission; a final point has not yet been placed on this matter.

Parties will make evaluations on the drafted version, and we want a formulation that covers the broadest possible segments through consensus as much as possible; there is a foundation for such a consensus. I hope all parties will make good use of this foundation. It is important that the process reaches points that align with its spirit and will provide relief to us all in the future.

We will do our best for such a consensus. We think and expect that the same attitude will come from other parties on this issue. Let us not go into the details of the meeting. We will discuss the developments in the process to date, what needs to be done from here on, and the issues on the agenda.”
