Support for journalists from Ekrem İmamoğlu: Statement following the acquittal and release decision
TBB and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu shared a post on social media following the acquittal of Suat Toktaş and 4 other journalists who were being tried while in custody as part of the "expert witness" investigation launched against Halk TV. In his post, İmamoğlu stated, "Journalism is not a crime. Defending the public's right to receive information, and defending the rule of law and transparency, is not a crime; it is a right."

Following the release decision, it was learned that the Prosecutor's Office would appeal the court's decision.
