Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan announced that if an 'absolute nullity' decision is taken regarding the Republican People's Party (CHP), he would characterize the administration that takes over the party as a "junta" and would resign from his party as long as that administration remains in office.

Özcan stated, "As long as that junta manages the Republican People's Party, whether they give me an award or send me to disciplinary proceedings, I will not care. If the court issues such a decision and Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and his associates say 'we accept this duty,' I will suspend my membership in the Republican People's Party by resigning until this political junta leaves the head of the party."

ABSOLUTE NULLITY DECISION

Özcan made evaluations regarding the CHP congress case to be heard on October 24, saying, "I do not think an absolute nullity decision can be issued. As a legal professional, I cannot conceive of it. Because there has never been a case of absolute nullity regarding an association or a professional chamber to date, let alone a political party." He also stated that the Ankara 42nd Civil Court of First Instance should resolve this matter as soon as possible.

Drawing attention to the economic effects of political uncertainties in Turkey, Özcan remarked, "Do people have to worry about the state of the stock market and the dollar? Do business people have to think for months about 'what decision will the court make regarding the Republican People's Party?' while making investments?"

'IF KILIÇDAROĞLU RETURNS...'

Regarding the possibility of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu returning to office, Özcan reiterated that he would resign from his party, saying, "If Mr. Kılıçdaroğlu and his team return to the party, I do not care at all whether they expel me or not. I would accept the committee that comes to the head of the party by court order as a junta committee. I would accept this as a coup." Özcan clearly stated his position by adding, "The day Mr. Özgür Özel or another elected committee resumes office at the headquarters, I will be the first person to personally apply to rejoin the Republican People's Party."
