Continuing his local election campaign, CHP İzmir Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate Cemil Tugay made notable remarks.

Stating that the People's Alliance (Cumhur İttifakı) would not be able to win the election, Tugay used the expression, "But we need a result that will force these people into an early general election."

Saying, "The rose thrown by a friend wounds us," Tugay expressed his reproach toward İzmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer.

Without naming him, Tugay reacted to Tunç Soyer, who has been accompanying Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, by saying the following;

"I also have an objection. I have an objection to everyone working to help the AKP win. When the country is in this state, when they are the cause of everything, I have an objection to everyone who gives them credit. Do not do this. My heart has been aching since yesterday. I am the mayoral candidate here, not for myself, but on behalf of the Republican People's Party. Do not do this on behalf of politicians who think like me and the CHP. But our mayor, who did not stand by me for a minute here, is working for others in another city."
