Terrorist leader Öcalan: 'All groups should lay down their arms and dissolve themselves'

The DEM Party İmralı delegation read the text of the 'lay down arms' call from Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the terrorist organization PKK. In the text, terrorist leader Öcalan stated, "I am making a call to lay down arms and I assume the historical responsibility of this call. As every modern society and party whose existence has not been forcibly ended would do voluntarily, convene your congress and make a decision for integration with the state and society; all groups must lay down their arms and the PKK must dissolve itself." he said. 

Sırrı Süreyya Önder took the floor first. 

Önder said the following: 

"The sprout is stronger than the stump. We went to cultivate the hope for peace. We went with the will to give it together, with the Turk and the Kurd. We will cultivate this hope. Our existence has been spent for this cause. It will be the same from now on. Until this country turns into a rose garden. We thank all the names who contributed; Mr. President, Mr. Bahçeli, and Mr. Özgür Özel. We are at a turning point in history, but a turning point in a positive sense. We have returned with a compass for a positive exit from the current chaotic environment." 

As it will be recalled, Sırrı Süreyya Önder was also part of the delegation that met with PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan during the initial peace process. 

Öcalan's call text was first read in Kurdish by Ahmet Türk. Then, Pervin Buldan took the floor to read the Turkish text. 

'ALL GROUPS MUST LAY DOWN THEIR ARMS AND THE PKK MUST DISSOLVE ITSELF'

The text written by the terrorist organization leader Öcalan is as follows: 

"The PKK was born on the ground created by the 20th century, the century of the most intense violence in history, two world wars, real-socialism, and the cold war environments experienced globally, as well as the denial of the Kurdish reality and the bans on freedoms, especially freedom of expression."
It remained under the heavy influence of the reality of the century's real-socialist system in terms of theory, program, strategy, and tactics.
The collapse of real-socialism in the 1990s due to internal reasons, the dissolution of identity denial in the country, and the developments achieved in freedom of expression led to a lack of meaning for the PKK and its excessive

radicalization.
The organization, which has become a burden on the democratic politics of the country, has reached a point where it must redefine its existence.
Therefore, the time has come for the PKK to end its armed struggle and transition to a political process.
has led to repetition. Therefore, it has completed its lifespan like its counterparts and made its dissolution necessary.
Kurdish-Turkish relations; throughout a history spanning over 1,000 years, Turks and Kurds have always seen it as necessary to remain in an alliance, where the aspect of voluntarism has been dominant, in order to maintain their existence

and to survive against hegemonic powers.
The last 200 years of capitalist modernity have made breaking this alliance their primary goal. The affected
powers, along with their class foundations, have adopted serving this as their core principle. This process accelerated

with the monolithic interpretations of the Republic. Today, the historical relationship, which has become very fragile,
must be restored to its essence through a democratic, pluralistic, and free perspective.
We must overcome the obstacles that have been placed before this historical brotherhood.
It is a fundamental duty to reorganize in a spirit of brotherhood, without disregarding beliefs.

The need for a democratic society is inevitable. The PKK, which is the longest and most comprehensive
insurgency and violence movement in the history of the Republic, found strength and a base
because the channels of democratic politics were closed.

Solutions such as separate nation-states, federations, administrative autonomy, and culturalism,
which are the inevitable results of extreme nationalist swings, cannot provide an answer to historical social sociology.

Respect for identities, allowing them to express themselves freely and organize in a democratic sense,
and the socio-economic and political structures that every segment adopts for themselves are only possible through democratic
is possible through the existence of society and the political sphere.

The second century of the Republic will only be able to have a lasting and fraternal
continuity when it is crowned with democracy. There is no non-democratic path for system
searches and implementations. There cannot be. Democratic consensus is the fundamental method.

The language of the era of peace and democratic society must also be developed in accordance with reality.

In this climate created by the call made by Mr. Devlet Bahçeli, the will put forward by the President,
and the positive approaches of other political parties toward the aforementioned call, I am making a call
to lay down arms and I am assuming the historical responsibility of this call.
