The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), dominated by PKK/YPG elements in Syria, have begun negotiations with the Damascus administration regarding local governance issues. Terrorist ringleader Mazlum Abdi announced that they plan to organize a national congress during this process to form a delegation that will represent the region.

According to the report in Sözcü, Abdi spoke about the negotiations he is conducting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and stated that they have observed a softening in Turkey's statements regarding the regions under SDF control. Abdi said, "We feel that Turkey has begun to use a more moderate language in its official statements and is showing a tendency toward accepting the presence of the SDF within the Syrian state."

Furthermore, stating that they demand the identity of the SDF be preserved within the Syrian National Army, Abdi emphasized that these demands hold an important place in the negotiations.
