Testimony of Hüseyin Gün, a whistleblower in the 'espionage' investigation involving İmamoğlu, emerges: Prosecutors ask about 'İmamoğlu criminal organization'

The name of Ekrem İmamoğlu, the imprisoned presidential candidate of the CHP and Mayor of Istanbul, is mentioned in the espionage investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. In his 10-hour and 30-minute testimony under the effective remorse law, whistleblower Hüseyin Gün made striking statements regarding the reports he prepared for İmamoğlu. According to T24's report, Gün stated that he did not know this work was a crime or that İmamoğlu and his circle were linked to a criminal organization.

HÜSEYİN GÜN'S STATEMENT ON REPORTS FOR İMAMOĞLU

In his testimony, Hüseyin Gün said that he prepared reports to be delivered to Ekrem İmamoğlu, but that he did not know this constituted a crime. "If I had known there was a criminal organization, I would certainly not have taken part in such work," he said. He also stated that these reports were presented to İmamoğlu to be used during the election campaign process and that he had no information about the relationships of the people involved in this process with a criminal organization.

HE ANNOUNCED HE PROVIDED SUPPORT TO MERDAN YANARDAĞ

His connections with journalist Merdan Yanardağ were also questioned. Gün admitted that he provided small amounts of financial support to Yanardağ, such as 2,000-3,000 Euros, a few times a year. Stating that "He is like a legacy left to me by my spiritual mother," Gün noted that he sent money to Yanardağ via envelopes and did not send money through bank accounts.

THE PERSON WHO PREPARED REPORTS FOR İMAMOĞLU: AARON BARR

In his testimony, he also made statements about the person who allegedly prepared reports for İmamoğlu during the election process. Hüseyin Gün said that the person who prepared these reports was Aaron Barr, who worked as an intelligence expert in the US. Gün said, "Aaron Barr was preparing reports to be presented to İmamoğlu. In these reports, the path İmamoğlu would follow was being determined."

MI6 CONNECTION AND DAVID JOHN CHARTERS STATEMENT

Information also came to the fore that David John Charters, who had served in the British Intelligence Service MI6, was registered in his phone as the "closest friend" of former MI6 Chief Richard Moore. Gün said that he knew Charters from when he was the British Ambassador and that he heard Charters was a retired banker and later became the head of MI6.

RESPONSE TO İMAMOĞLU'S RELATIONSHIP WITH A "CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION"

In response to the question posed by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding whether Ekrem İmamoğlu was included in a criminal organization hierarchy, Hüseyin Gün replied, "I am not within this criminal organization. I have had no activities with the intent of a criminal organization." Gün stated that he only conducted analysis work to be delivered to İmamoğlu and used in the election campaign, which he then forwarded to Necati Özkan, and that he had no knowledge that this work constituted a crime.
