The 4 possibilities behind Erdoğan's 'final' statement: 'The well-known voter...'

Hürriyet Editor-in-Chief Ahmet Hakan listed 4 possibilities regarding the statement by President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who said, "This election is a final for me. With the authority granted by the law, this election is my last election."

Hakan stated the following:

"First possibility: An emotional message

He may have wanted to gain more votes for his party in the local elections by sending an 'overly emotional message' to the voters. The well-known voter values emotion.

Second possibility: A social experiment

He may have wanted to conduct an intra-party social experiment to see 'who will behave how within the party, and who will adopt what kind of stance.'

Third possibility: Expectation of change

By reminding everyone that he cannot be a candidate again constitutionally... He may have wanted to bring the idea of a constitutional amendment to mind.

Fourth possibility: A statement of fact

Sometimes a man smoking a cigar is just smoking a cigar. In other words, Erdoğan may have simply been stating a fact without any other purpose."
