Cemal Enginyurt and Salih Uzun, who entered the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) on the Republican People's Party (CHP) lists in the May 14, 2023 general elections, had resigned following a congress crisis in the Democrat Party.

The date for Enginyurt and Uzun, who have been operating as independents for some time, to join the CHP has been set.

According to Ismail Saymaz, Enginyurt and Uzun will join the CHP on Tuesday. CHP leader Ozgur Ozel will pin their badges.

Saymaz shared his conversation with Enginyurt in his column.

Enginyurt stated the following:

“I believe that if we are to get rid of Erdogan, it will be possible with the CHP. We want to contribute to the gathering of the center-right and nationalists within the CHP. Wherever we go in Anatolia, CHP members want us to join the party. They say we can provide better opposition within the CHP. We are returning to where we were elected so as not to fall into the immorality of being elected with CHP votes and then marketing them elsewhere.”

Cemal Enginyurt, who spent the majority of his political career in the MHP, will thus have served under the umbrella of three different political parties in the TBMM.
