The first of the TKP's 'Communist Municipalism' meetings begins in Kartal

The Communist Party of Turkey will begin the first of its 'Communist Municipalism' meetings in Kartal. The TKP will announce its first official candidate in Istanbul at this meeting.

The Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) had announced to the public that it would be on the ballot in the local elections to be held on March 31, 2024.

EMPHASIS ON "COMMUNIST MUNICIPALISM"

In its statement, the party set forth its stance regarding the local elections, saying, "We will stand against those who think that those who want a statist, secular, and independent country are left without options in the local elections; against those who are preparing to drag the people after fake solutions by once again exploiting the anti-AKP resistance in society; and against those who present market and rent-seeking relations as the inevitable fate of municipalities, with communist municipalism."

"TKP FOR COMMUNIST MUNICIPALISM"

The highlights of the statement are as follows:

Communist municipalism instead of a rent-based municipal approach. We will push back against the rent-based municipal approach and, in its place, we will disseminate the principles and examples of communist municipalism. TKP for communist municipalism: The Communist Party of Turkey will field its candidates for municipal councils everywhere in the country with this understanding.

For mayoral candidacies to be fielded in certain places at the provincial, district, and town levels, it will act in accordance with the following basic criteria:

  • The number of communist municipalities will increase, and an honest, moral, and consistent municipal approach based on an egalitarian and statist approach will become widespread.
  • The communist municipalism approach will enter some localities for the first time, gain strength, and take root.
  • While there are failed examples of municipalism that cannot be distinguished from one another regardless of which party they belong to, those who try to make people forget these experiences and spread false hopes with unprincipled and programless alliances will not find the field empty or the people without options.

The meeting, which will take place on Saturday, December 30, at 14:00 with the participation of TKP General Secretary Kemal Okuyan, will be held under the title "Kartal is labor. We are announcing the candidate of labor," and the TKP's first official candidate in Istanbul will also be announced.
