The inside story of the armed assassination attempt at IYI Party revealed! The code: Did the children go into the sea?

An armed attack was carried out against former IYI Party Manavgat District Chair Hüseyin Ergen in recent days. 

While Ergen was wounded in the leg during the attack, 2 of the 6 suspects detained were arrested on February 10.

Sözcü columnist İsmail Saymaz wrote about the inside story of the armed assassination attempt against Hüseyin Ergen.

Stating that Yahya Kurt, the husband of IYI Party General Administrative Board (GİK) member Ayşen Kurt, had ordered the assassination of former Manavgat District Chair Hüseyin Ergen but failed, Saymaz explained the details of the bargaining between the Kurt couple and the attacker Ahmet Çelik.

In his article titled "The assassination attempt that shook the IYI Party" published today, Saymaz reported that IYI Party GİK member Ayşen Kurt has fled to France, and that Yahya Kurt, who gave the assassination order, the instigator Ahmet Çelik, and the gunman Selahattin Oğuz are in prison.

"HE MUST BE KILLED"

"Ayşen Kurt's husband, Yahya, decided to have Ergen killed. He called the instigator Ahmet Çelik to his hotel in December of last year. During their meeting, he told Çelik, 'Ergen is posting articles about my wife's honor and dignity. He must be killed.'

Çelik, reminding him that Ergen was a district chair, replied, 'It could be pulled into the political side.' Kurt said, 'I can have him removed from office.' Çelik said, 'Then we will do it.' As her husband said, Ayşen Kurt ensured that Ergen was removed from his position as district chair.

After Ergen was removed from the district chairmanship, Yahya Kurt called Çelik and said, 'We removed him from his post. Come, let's meet.' They met at the hotel.

Kurt gave the instigator a sketch of Ergen's house, his phone number, the location of the restaurant he operated, and the license plate of the vehicle he used. He said, 'Kill Ergen.' He handed over 50,000 TL to be used in the assassination. Two days later, Çelik met with the gunman Selahattin Oğuz and made an agreement for him to shoot Ergen. He gave 20,000 TL of the money he received from Kurt to Oğuz. Oğuz said, 'Consider the job done.' Upon researching, Çelik learned that Ergen was a father of three and that the children were young, so he decided to have him shot in the legs instead of killing him, saying, 'This would bother us in terms of conscience.'

THE CODE: DID THE CHILDREN GO INTO THE SEA?

Wanting results as soon as possible, Yahya Kurt called Çelik and asked, "Did the children go into the sea?" This question was a code regarding whether Ergen had been shot.

When the attack had not taken place, Çelik would reply, "The weather is cold, the children cannot go into the sea."

DETAILS OF THE BARGAINING...

One month after Ergen was removed from the district chairmanship, on January 31, he was shot in front of his house. Çelik came to Kurt's hotel. After showing the footage of the attack, he said, 'We completed the event we promised. We didn't kill him, we shot him in the leg.' He reduced the 20 million TL they had agreed upon by half and asked for 10 million TL from Kurt. Kurt said, 'I will pay 450,000 TL upfront.' He delivered the money in a yellow bag. Kurt found the fugitive gunman Oğuz and gave him 350,000 TL.

Oğuz said, 'Take the rest of the money, I trust you.' Çelik warned the gunman, 'Don't get caught.' In his statement after surrendering, Çelik described the conversation between him and Oğuz as follows:

'I instructed him that if we could not get the remaining money from Yahya Kurt, when he was caught, he would testify that the instigators of this incident were Yahya and Ayşen Kurt, and that Kurt had directed him to carry out the incident in exchange for 10 million TL. He said, ‘If there is a contrary situation, I will change my first statement and testify in this way,’ and we agreed.'

Four days after the attack, Çelik went to Kurt's hotel. They bargained over the payment. Kurt said he could give 3 million TL. Çelik stated that he had reduced his claim of 10 million TL to 5 million TL. Kurt said, 'I cannot give it.'

What happened? First, a message was sent to Ergen's mobile phone on February 9. The message contained the following statements:

'I am a relative of Selahattin Oğuz, who carried out the armed attack on you. This incident was explained differently to Oğuz. It was said that you were a predator and that there was an affair between you and Ayşen Kurt. Yahya and Ayşen Kurt agreed with Oğuz for 20 million TL to have you killed. I will send you a video recording. That there was one more person involved in the incident and that he will surrender and tell everything...'

That person was Ahmet Çelik. There was no need for Çelik to be caught. Because one day later, he went to the police station and reported it.

In his statement, he said:

'Upon Kurt not giving us the 5 million TL we wanted because he tried to have us kill Ergen for money and we shot him in the legs instead, I decided to come to the police station and make a sincere confession.' Stating that he was the one who shot the video mentioned in the recording, Çelik said: 'I shot the video as evidence in case Kurt did not give us our money. While shooting the video, I specifically shot it so that the serial numbers of the money and which bank it was withdrawn from would be visible.'

Gunman Oğuz, Çelik, and Yahya Kurt were sent to prison.
