The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) convened in an extraordinary session to discuss the Constitutional Court's ruling regarding the revocation of Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP) MP Can Atalay's parliamentary seat.

During the meeting, TİP MP Ahmet Şık addressed the AKP deputies, saying, "You have no shame, you have no dignity." Following these remarks, AKP İzmir MP Alpay Özalan ran to the podium and punched Ahmet Şık.

NOT HIS FIRST INCIDENT

The incident involving Özalan is not the first in the TBMM. Özalan has been involved in similar events before.

Past incidents are as follows:

2018: The first brawl of the new legislative year took place in the TBMM General Assembly. During a dispute between AKP deputies and HDP deputies, former footballer and MP Alpay Özalan stepped forward from the AKP ranks.

2020: During a debate in the TBMM General Assembly regarding a parliamentary research motion on 'human rights violations,' Özalan reacted harshly to deputies who were criticizing the President.

2021: During a speech by CHP's Özgür Özel, who had taken the podium to respond to Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu, Alpay Özalan walked toward Özel, and the resulting dispute escalated into a physical altercation.
