Turbulence continues in the IYI Party, where news of resignations has been coming one after another.
IYI Party Sakarya Deputy Ümit Dikbayır, who leveled corruption allegations against Chairwoman Meral Akşener and the party administration, was referred to the disciplinary board with a request for permanent expulsion. Despite the referral decision, Dikbayır had announced that he would not resign and would continue his struggle.
CALL FOR RESIGNATION TO DIKBAYIR FROM SAKARYA ORGANIZATION
A call for resignation came from the IYI Party provincial and district organizations in Sakarya to Dikbayır, whose permanent expulsion is being sought.
IYI Party Sakarya Provincial Chairman Ahmet Uçak said in a post on his social media account, "As Sakarya provincial and district chairmen, we have been acting in unity and solidarity since the day we were founded. Today, the situation we are facing, especially as Sakarya organizations, is seriously disturbing our Sakarya provincial and district organizations. In order to prevent these situations reflected in the public from causing further harm to our party, we, as chairmen, unanimously invite the subject of the matter, IYI Party Sakarya Deputy Ümit Dikbayır, to resign from our party. We present this to the entire public with our respects."
CALL FOR RESIGNATION LEADS TO RESIGNATION
This call, which bore the joint signature of all district chairmen, caused a crisis in the provincial organization. Adapazarı District Chairman Fatih Aygündüz, in a statement on his social media account, stated that "the joint declaration published by the IYI Party Sakarya Provincial Presidency was signed under pressure," adding, "I feel deep regret for signing this declaration. With this resignation, I have taken a stance against the oppressive management approach."
Stating, “We see that our party, which was founded on the principles of merit, honesty, and justice, has deviated from its founding principles," Aygündüz announced, "Unfortunately, as a result of the negative developments, I have decided to resign from my position as Adapazarı District Chairman, along with many of my fellow administrators and neighborhood heads."
