Executives and members of the Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP) who attended the Republican People's Party (CHP) rally held in Bakırköy, Istanbul, on Wednesday were detained due to the slogans they chanted. Among those detained are numerous individuals, including TİP Party Assembly Member Arzum Yalçın. In a statement released via social media, the party demanded the release of those detained and announced that they would be closely monitoring the process.

STATEMENT FROM TİP: "WE WILL NOT SURRENDER TO PRESSURE"

In a statement made from TİP's social media account, it was stated: "Many of our party members and executives, including our Party Assembly Member Arzum Yalçın, were detained on the grounds of slogans chanted at the rally in Bakırköy on Wednesday. Our Istanbul Provincial Organization and party lawyers are following the process. Those who attempt to stage a coup against the will of the people are fabricating crimes to punish the opposition. We will not surrender to pressure; our comrades must be released immediately!"

ARZUM YALÇIN: "I HAVE BEEN DETAINED"

TİP Party Assembly Member Arzum Yalçın announced that she had been detained in a post on her social media account at 02:56. In her post, Yalçın said, "As of this moment, I am being detained because we supported the CHP rally held in Bakırköy on Wednesday with our TİP Bakırköy district organization."
