Labor Party (EMEP) Gaziantep MP Sevda Karaca Demir, speaking at a press conference held in Parliament alongside a group of workers protesting at a textile factory in the Şanlıurfa Organized Industrial Zone, stated that workers who switched to a different union at the factory have faced difficulties and have been protesting for 45 days as a result.

Demir stated that the governor's office and the gendarmerie "are fulfilling the demands of the factory owner; the workers were forcibly removed from in front of the factory and out of the industrial zone by law enforcement."

Noting that the workers have been unable to meet with the officials and Şanlıurfa MPs to whom they wanted to explain the hardships they have been experiencing for 45 days, Demir stated that they came under the roof of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) to make their voices heard.

Demir announced that as the Labor Party, they will continue to stand by the workers and laborers who are voicing their demands for rights.
