They were part of the People's Alliance! Criticism of the Presidential Government System during DSP's Eid visit to CHP

Political parties continue their holiday visits for Ramadan Feast. 

DSP Deputy Chairman Hikmet Aydemir and his delegation, who arrived at the CHP Headquarters, were welcomed by CHP Deputy Chairman Aylin Nazlıaka.

"WE HIT A WALL"

During the part of the meeting open to the press, Aydemir's remarks regarding the parliamentary system and the Presidential Government System drew attention.

Aydemir stated, "Because we believe in democracy, we expect every kind of solution to come from the parliament. The system has been brought to such a state that the parliament has become a place of 'raise your hand, lower your hand.' These powers must be brought to a state worthy of Turkey as soon as possible. It is not working this way; we have seen it, we hit a wall," he said.

"IT WILL NOT HAPPEN WITH THIS GOVERNMENT"

Responding to Aydemir, Nazlıaka said the following:

"If you are expressing a need for a constitutional amendment again at this point, we do not have faith that a new Constitution will be made by those who do not abide by the Constitution. Our perspective is to use the responsibility we have undertaken right now in the best way possible, and then to come to power in the first elections by earning it and transition to a system that will strengthen parliamentary democracy, but this will not happen with this government."

CRITICIZED THE SYSTEM

Aydemir continued his words as follows:

"I hope it happens as soon as possible. This has become so tiresome for us. We are children of the Republic. We grew up and were raised benefiting from the blessings of the Republic. We saw rules, we saw principles. 

The man in the village of Nallıhan tells me; I no longer want the President to come out and engage in propaganda. The Presidency had such prestige in the Turkish nation, what did we do to it? We turned it into a partisan presidency. What is the point we have reached? More than 50 percent of our people also say no to this system."

Finally, Nazlıaka stated, "We are the spirit of the Republic and the hope of democracy. That is why we will rebuild a democratic Turkey. We will build a Turkey where the rule of law prevails instead of the law of the powerful," she said. 

WHAT HAPPENED?

The Democratic Left Party (DSP) decided to support the People's Alliance in the May 14, 2023 General Elections, and Chairman Önder Aksakal was elected as an Istanbul deputy from the AKP list.
