THK planes once called 'unflyable' are for sale for millions of dollars! Harsh reaction from CHP

CHP Deputy Chairman Erhan Adem issued a written statement regarding the decision to put the firefighting planes belonging to the Turkish Aeronautical Association (THK) up for sale. Adem stated the following:

"The sale notice for the Turkish Aeronautical Association's firefighting planes is not merely an auction of a few old-model aircraft. This is an open tender launched against the intellect, labor, institutions, and forests of the Republic. This sale is, in a sense, a confession. If those planes, which were called 'unflyable' for years and discredited with the label of 'scrap,' are now being offered for sale with million-dollar price tags, then the issue is not technical, but political. It means they were flying, but you grounded them. It means they were working, but you silenced them. And now you are selling them. Right in front of our eyes.

While those planes were rotting in the hangar, this country's lungs were burning. Forests burned, villages turned to ash, and animals were scorched. The conscience of this nation was scorched. And now, without shame, you are issuing a 'sale notice' from within that wreckage. You talk about debt, you talk about foreclosure. Yet, what you are selling is not just property. It is reputation. Memory. The first sentences the Republic wrote in the sky. You managed the THK with trustees, excluded merit, and caused the institution to collapse. Now you are trying to extract money from the wreckage. So I ask you: How can those who cannot even manage an association manage this country? How can a government that cannot intervene in a fire ensure that disasters are stopped rather than growing?

These planes, which are being put up for sale today, are also a picture of a confrontation. Everyone knows where you were, how you stayed silent, and how you ran away while our forests were burning in 2021, 2022, and 2023. And now you are selling them. Without even offering an apology. The conscience of this nation does not consent to this sale or this negligence. As the Republican People's Party, we will do whatever is necessary for the restructuring of the Turkish Aeronautical Association and the establishment of a real, independent, and public intervention system in the fight against forest fires. Because this issue is not just about fire; it is about justice, merit, and the Republic. It is not a plane that is being sold; it is the sky that is being sold. It is not an institution that is being silenced; it is the memory of the people that they want to silence. But let them not forget; the sky is ours, the forest is ours, the memory is ours, and we will hold them accountable."
