THY Senior Vice President of Media Relations Yahya Üstün stated that the long-standing negotiations with US aircraft manufacturer Boeing are continuing. Üstün said, "This is a matter we have been discussing with Boeing for a long time; no final decision has been made yet."
This statement came after CHP Chairman Özgür Özel claimed in a speech in Manisa that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had requested a meeting with US President Donald Trump to "negotiate the purchase of 300 Boeing aircraft."
US President Trump, stating that he would meet with President Erdoğan on September 25, had said, "We are working on many Trade and Military deals, including a large-scale sale of Boeing aircraft, an important F-16 deal, and the continuation of F-35 discussions that we expect to conclude positively."
These developments are considered a significant turning point for the future of trade and defense relations between Turkey and the US.
