Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP) Chairman Erkan Baş held a press conference at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). In his press conference, Baş criticized the Public Savings and Efficiency Package.
Stating that the package repeats the circular published in June 2021 with the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Baş said that the same package was announced 3 years later.
Stating that it was not announced how much would be saved with the Public Savings and Efficiency Package, but that a target of 100 billion liras is being discussed in the public eye, Baş used the expression, "We are facing a laughable figure alongside a budget deficit of 2.7 trillion."
Expressing that the number of workers and laborers working in the public sector will be reduced with the savings package, Baş argued that there is an understanding of public service in Turkey that does not meet the needs of the citizens.
Baş said, "What are you going to save from the doctor or nurse who has to see at least 3 patients in 10 minutes today? We are speaking from one of the countries where the number of students per teacher is the highest, yet they claim they will make savings in public service."
Stating that if savings are to be made, the rents for Istanbul Airport should be collected, Baş expressed that a contribution could be made to the budget in this way.
